All food and drinks are provided as part of the class- we only ask that you bring your eagerness to learn, meet new people and perhaps learn some Bahamian dialect along the way:)

We’ll be cooking (and eating!) rain or shine- 99% of the event takes place completely indoors!

Casual, comfortable clothing is perfectly acceptable. Aprons will be provided for our time in the kitchen!

We CAN provide food substitutions. Please indicate any dietary restrictions when you sign up for the class.

Starting point is conveniently located only a 4 minutes walk from cruise port, local bus depot and Paradise Island Ferry terminal

What to Expect

Meet Chef Bowe, Executive Chef at the top rated Graycliff Restaurant in historic downtown Nassau, and go behind-the-scenes to learn how to cook a three-course authentic Bahamian feast! Whether you’re a cooking enthusiast or a novice, this hands on cooking class promises to be fun and entertaining.

We’ll begin with a refreshing welcome drink and a tasty nibble to get you into the spirit of the islands and fuel you for your time in the kitchen.

In each class, you will arrive to find an array of colorful, fresh ingredients. You will assist Chef in preparing recipes for your meal, learn basic cooking techniques and an understanding of essential Bahamian ingredients. Chef Bowe with assign each member of the group a specific task and provide individual attention. Food preparation will take approximately 75 minutes.

After the prepping portion is completed, you will be led into a private Graycliff Dining Room to sit down and enjoy the beautiful restaurant ambiance and the dishes you’ve prepared, alongside your tour guide and class companions. Your choice of wine or a non-alcoholic beverage with the meal is included.

Numbers are limited to a maximum of 10 people for this small group Bahamian cooking class, ensuring you’ll receive personalised attention from the chef. In addition to a full belly, you’ll also receive our Eat Nassau Dining Guide: a printed guide full of insider’s tips about where to eat in the city as well as must-eat local foods you’ll want to sample during your visit. Plus, we’ll email you a recipe booklet to remind you how to recreate Chef’s Bowe’s delicious Bahamian dishes in your own home!

Note: You may recognize the Graycliff Restaurant and Hotel from our signature Bites of Nassau Food Tasting & Cultural Walking Tour. The Graycliff property is a permanent stop on our tour and we enjoy several tastings on site. We have created this hands-on event because many of our tour guests want to experience even more of Graycliff’s magic and learn how to actually prepare delicious Bahamian food in the kitchen!

Appetizer

Bahamian Conch Chowder- chunks of Bahamian conch, vegetables and herbs in a tomato base, topped with signature sherry pepper sauce

Entree

Fresh Hog Snapper- locally caught fillet broiled with native limes, bell peppers, onions and garden thyme

Served with: Peas N Rice, Embellished Coleslaw and Traditional Bahamian Macaroni and Cheese

Dessert

Bahamian Guava Duff- sweet island dough lined with local guava fruit and topped
with rum butter sauce

Yes, both our Bites of Nassau Food Tour and Authentic Bahamian Cooking Class and Lunch Experience offer tasty alternative options for vegetarians. Please be sure to notify us of your dietary restrictions when you purchase your tickets.

Not at all! Whether you’re an avid chef or a complete novice- this class is designed to be suitable for anyone with a love of food and culture. All that is required is your eagerness to learn, meet fellow foodies and enjoy some local hospitality!

Unfortunately not! Our Bites of Nassau Food Tour is offered Mon-Sat only and not available on Bahamian Public Holidays. We’d love to host our tours on Sundays and local Public Holidays but the majority of businesses here The Bahamas close down on Sundays and Public Holidays- including the majority of our tour partner tasting locations. This means that it is impossible for us to run our tours on those days of the year.

From time to time, it is possible for us to host Private Group Tours or Private Cooking Classes on Sundays as an alternative option- please fill out a Private Group Request Form with your specific date request and we’ll response within 48 hours.

On our Bites of Nassau Food Tour, bathrooms are available throughout the tour at selected food-tasting locations. Your guide will be sure to let you know at the beginning of the tour when the bathroom breaks will occur and remind you throughout the tour as well.

During our Authentic Bahamian Cooking Class & Lunch Experience, we’ll have access to a bathroom at all times and there will be two official bathroom break opportunities during our time together.
