Nassau and Paradise Island have lots of activities, toursrestaurants, bars, and great beaches, but sometimes the inner explorer in us says, ‘let’s get away’ There are many day trip excursions available from Nassau to the Out Islands of The Bahamas that will neither take up too much of your time nor eat up too much of your vacation budget.

From private islands with aquatic sanctuaries to the no worries beach bar, there is so much fun to be had during an excursion off of mainland Nassau. Experience the Tru-Tru Bahamas as it is meant to be seen, up close and personal…

 Blue Lagoon Island

There’s a lot of unexpected history to the island, known locally as Salt Cay, which was originally owned by a British Knight named Charles King-Harmon and eventually bought by L.A. Meister, who with his family, still own and operate the island. Now a sanctuary for marine life, visitors from all over the world make it a point to spend a day at this natural lagoon beach.

With so much to do at Blue Lagoon Island, the toughest decision you’ll make all day is choosing your activities. Relax on the beach, take a tour of the island by Segway, or get active with a variety of watersports. Animal lovers also have the opportunity to take part in dolphin and sea lion interactions (these can be booked on the island but we recommend you reserve your encounter in advance). Foodies are welcomed to indulge in a delicious grilled lunch and sip frozen daiquiris as you unwind on your personal hammock. Luckily, at Blue Lagoon Island you can have it all!

Our four-legged friends are extremely welcoming (they’ll swim right up to you upon approach), playful, and love food (our kind of pigs!). Speaking of which, humans enjoy a light lunch at the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, a boater’s haven, and then swim with the resident nurse sharks (don’t worry they get lunch first too:).
